Thanks to funding from Westmorland and Furness Council, Cumbria Wildlife Trust are creating a wildflower meadow on the Towpath Trail near the leisure centre in Kendal.
To clear the site the traditional technique of scything was used. Led by Steve Tomlin, 8 participants helped to clear the area whilst learning how to use a scythe. Once cleared University of Cumbria students will plant plug seeds before nature is left to work her magic!
Going forwards the Lancaster Canal Regeneration Partnership will work with Westmorland and Furness Council to ensure the new habitat thrives.
